"When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Matthew 16:13

Master. Prophet. Son. Savior. The man called Jesus of Nazarene has been called many things. Debates have raged for centuries over who he truly was. However, his true identity is not a secret for those who know where to look. As the Bible tells us, Jesus is, quite simply, God. To make a long story short, God wrapped himself in flesh and lived among us. For about thirty-three years, the Lord Almighty walked among us, ate among us, and slept among us. He taught us his Holy will, and paved the way for our salvation. It is through his human form, Jesus Christ, that we should reach God. Think of Jesus as humanity's Ambassador to Heaven.

To my family and I, Jesus is more than simply a spiritual or historical figure. He's a loving Father, a comforting presence that we can run to when we need comfort. He's a constant companion and friend, someone who we can share our daily lives with. Jesus is as much a part of our family as we all are. He sits down with us for supper when we say our blessing. He listens to us each morning and night as we pray. He watches over us all night and protects us. He's there to heal us when we're sick. He even gets part of the paycheck. Our lives just wouldn't be the same without our Lord and Savior.
