As the Republic gained in size, strength, and technology, it began to grow at an exponential rate. Entire star systems were added, wars were fought and won, and the sciences began to flourish. A period of expansion and exploration began.

Over the next thousand years, it became the goal of Republic explorers to map out the entire galaxy. Vast numbers of ships set out across the Republic, some small, some of enormous proportions. Rewards were offered to those who could map out the Unexplored Regions of space.

This "expansionist era" resulted in an unparalleled surge of information. In a few hundred years the Republic had star charts for the vast majority of the galaxy. Had it not been for an unpleasant discovery by young explorers Gav and Jori Daragon, the rest of the Unexplored Regions would have been mapped out soon as well. However, the Republic had not accounted for the Sith Empire.
