The Golden Age of the Republic

After the end of the Sith War, the Republic enjoyed a peace of which has never been seen before or since. For over 3,000 years, the galaxy experienced relative quiet.

With the Galactic Senate and Fleet working to resolve any differences, war became a distant memory. Even the Jedi began to think their evil counterparts extinct. This time would later be referred to as the "golden age" of the Republic.

The peace was briefly broken when the Sith re-emerged to wage war on the Jedi. This uprising was quickly disspelled as the Jedi utterly destroyed the Sith, driving them into extinction once and for all. The peace would last for another millenia beyond that.

Unfortunately, such lasting peace soon began to have its effect on the Republic. Untested by war, the Fleet began to deteriorate and the Senate became corrupt as beaurocrats grew fat and greedy on wealth and prosperity. Such a time could only have one effect -- war would again come to the Republic.
