From beyond the edges of the known galaxy, they came - The Yuuzhan Vong. The likes of such an enemy have never been seen in all the galaxy - a savage, brutal foe who seemingly care nothing for life and welcome pain and death religiously. Boasting an invasion force of immense proportions, the Vong use bio-technology unknown of in the New Republic. Embracing pain and death as joyful, these humanoid aliens are vicious and relentless in battle. In very little time, the Vong have quickly burned a path of death and destruction across the galaxy.

The living ships and armor used by the Vong are highly resistant to laser technology, including the lightsabers of the Jedi. Extremely fast and strong, the Vong have no match in hand-to-hand combat save the Jedi, whose Force-augmented abilites place them on equal footing.

In little over a year, the Vong forces have conquered Coruscant itself, the center of the New Republic. The Republic now finds itself back at its roots - in a fight for survival, a fight which may be to the death. Using guerilla tactics similar to those used against the Empire 30 years ago, the Republic have formed an underground resistance movement to combat their would-be conquerors. The Jedi have once more established themselves as the guardians of the galaxy, shining as a light against the darkness. The galaxy is again at war.
