As in all aspects of life, time brings about change. Birth leads to Life, and Life must inevitably lead to Death. So it is with all life, and the various governments and regimes of the galaxy are no different. Thus it is that the Old Republic, bastion of democracy for a thousand generations, found itself giving way to the Galactic Empire, which in turn gave way to the New Republic. Now, however, it is once again time for change.

In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the New Republic found itself receding into history. The fall of Coruscant, galactic capital for nearly twenty-five thousand years, heralded a new vision for the galaxy - one long admired and attempted but never achieved. Now, confronted with a common enemy, the galaxy finds itself truly uniting for the first time in millenia. From the ashes of the New Republic rises the Galactic Alliance - a government not of one, but of many.

The new Galactic Alliance emcompasses all systems that were members of the former New Republic. As well, however, various other systems which once held themselves in isolation now find themselves joining a greater good. In addition to the powerful Hapes Consortium and Hutt Clans, the Galactic Alliance was also recently joined by the Imperial Remnant. The Diplomatic Corps of the Galactic Alliance are currently in negotiations with the Chiss Imperium and numerous other regimes as well. Never before has the galaxy seemed this whole.
